The Top 5 SEO Tips For 2022
If you own a business and have a website, you’ve no doubt heard of the importance of SEO.
Standing for Search Engine Optimization, SEO is the process of improving the quality and quantity of traffic to your site coming from search engines.
In other words, good SEO is how you get your business to show up on the first page of Google when someone searches for a topic related to your product or service. And that’s where we all want to be!
So what does it take to improve your SEO?
Here’s my Top 5 SEO Tips for 2022
Having valuable content is one of the ways Google ranks your site. If you have great content that people would be searching for, you have a chance to rank (and make that first page of Google). If the content isn’t there, you can’t rank. It’s as simple as that.
But just throwing words on a page doesn’t work. Quality matters. The content, often placed on a blog, needs to be high value and resourceful for the visitor. It should also be unique, meaning it isn’t found on another site.
Consider some of the most frequently asked questions you receive in your line of work—those questions typically make great blog content!
Paying for an SEO audit will help you identify both technical SEO elements, but also other more basic website improvements you might be able to make yourself.
It’s recommended to have an SEO audit done annually to ensure you’re always keeping up to date with best SEO practices and giving yourself every chance of being “found” by search engines.
If you haven’t already, set up your Google Business Profile. This is a free profile from Google that is primarily used for local businesses. Think of it as your “mini website” on Google. Google would prefer visitors to stay on Google.com, so they have these profiles as a way to help people find the information they’re looking for without clicking away.
Be sure to utilize all of the features available, such as opening hours, location, contact details, photos, etc, and analyze and optimize your profile a few times a year as Google is always changing it!
You probably know reviews are important, but did you know they are this important? 9 out of 10 consumers read reviews before making a purchase.
Because reviews don’t usually come in naturally at a high rate, it’s important to give your happy customers and clients a gentle nudge and ask them to leave you a review.
Be aware of the types of sites your ideal clients or customers are visiting. Google reviews are important, but don’t forget other smaller sites such as Yelp, BBB, Angi or perhaps some industry-specific websites.
Of course, you can always include reviews on your own website, but it is reviews on third-party platforms that are going to help boost your SEO.
If you are working with an SEO company, freelancer, or agency make sure they are providing you with monthly reports. You can’t measure what you don’t track!
The high-value online stats you want to pay attention to include website analytics, Google rankings, and customer form submissions or purchases.
If you’re about to embark on a website rework, think about including SEO as part of the package. If you’re going to have a fantastic new site, let’s help as many people as possible to find it!
